Help: Searching Digitale Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker

Help Contents

The current release of the Digitale Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker includes the following six search pages: Search All Sections, Search Literary Works, Search Non-literary Works, Search Letters, Search Diaries and Search Register.

From the search pages, you can use the toolbar to open a Help page, consult general information about the Digitale Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker, start a search or access the Table of Contents, Works by Author, Search History and Marked List pages.

You can access the search pages by clicking the Search buttons on the toolbar of any of the Digitale Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker pages. Each Search page in the Digitale Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker contains a number of Search boxes, which you can use to search the database. For a full description of the Search pages, see the Help topic for each search page.

To conduct a search, either type the required search terms (individual words or phrases) into the relevant search boxes or select them from a browse index. Search Options results display are selected from list boxes.

In the Search pages, you can combine search terms using Boolean and proximity searching, or you can search for variations on search terms using truncation searching.

Note: Between search boxes, all terms are treated by default as if they were combined using the Boolean operator AND.

When you have finished making your selections, click Search. A Search Results with Context or Summary of Matches page will appear displaying the results of your search.

If you wish to alter your selections, click the Refine Search link in the results page. Your original search terms will have been preserved. You can also start a completely new search by clicking the New Search link in the results page. To switch to the Search page for a different section of the database, click the relevant item on the toolbar.

Durable URL

Clicking the Durable URL link at the top of the pages in the site will open a small pop-up window containing a Durable URL for this citation. You can copy and paste this link into your own resources and can use it to link straight back into the product at this page.
